Daikin heat pump service, cleaning and maintenance in Auckland
If your Daikin heat pump hasn't been serviced in the last 12 months, or you've noticed a smell, weaker airflow, or a fault code on the display, get in touch.

Is this the right service for your situation?
Your Daikin heat pump hasn't had a professional clean in the last year. Daikin recommends annual servicing for units in regular use through New Zealand's winters and summers. An unserviced unit can lose 10 to 25 percent of its operating efficiency over time. Ducted Daikin systems carry a different scope of work beyond a wall-mounted service.
It's running but airflow feels weak or there's a smell. A blocked filter or a coated evaporator coil can cut airflow well before the system triggers a fault code. A musty smell after cooling mode usually means moisture sitting in the fan wheel. A proper service clears both.
Your Daikin unit is showing a fault code. Many Daikin fault codes are maintenance-related and clear once the unit's been properly cleaned. A or C codes point to the indoor unit, E, F, H, J, L or P codes to the outdoor unit, and U codes are system-level. Reading a code correctly before the work starts comes from routinely servicing the brand.
What a Daikin Heat Pump Restore includes
A full clean addresses buildup a filter wash alone can't reach: the evaporator coil, the fan wheel, and the drain line. A well-serviced Daikin unit should show a gap of at least 8 to 10 degrees between return air and discharge in cooling mode. We measure this before and after every visit as proof the service worked. Floor console Daikin units follow the same process, with a slightly different approach to cleaning the coil.
This is covered under our full heat pump care.
Evaporator coil clean
the internal heat exchanger is inspected and cleaned to restore proper heat transfer.
Fan wheel clean
the cylindrical fan is cleaned to remove the dust and organic growth that builds up in damp conditions.
Drain line flush
the drain tray and line are cleared to stop water backing up inside the unit.
Written condition report
photos, before-and-after notes, and a plain-English summary of the unit's condition, sent after the visit.
Common questions about Daikin heat pump service
How often should a Daikin heat pump be professionally serviced?
What does the Daikin warranty require, and does servicing with MiHT affect it?
The Daikin domestic warranty is five years parts and labour. It sets out owner responsibilities: operate the unit per instructions, clean filters regularly, keep the outdoor unit's air inlet and outlet clear, and keep the drain clean. It excludes damage caused by negligence or foreign matter such as dirt and moisture, and filters aren't covered unless defective at purchase. Under the Consumer Guarantees Act, your rights apply regardless of which qualified technician services the unit, as long as the work's carried out competently.
What does my Daikin's flashing light mean?
A flashing green light means an active fault has been logged. To retrieve the code, hold Cancel on the remote for about five seconds until '00' appears, then press Cancel repeatedly until you hear a long beep. A or C codes point to the indoor unit, E, F, H, J, L or P codes to the outdoor unit, and U codes are system-level.
My Daikin heat pump won't turn on. What should I check?
Check the circuit breaker first, heat pumps can trip it after a power outage, and reset it if needed. Check the remote has working batteries and is set to the right mode. If the OPERATION lamp is blinking, turn the breaker off, wait a moment, then restart with the remote. If it's still blinking, or the unit hasn't been serviced recently, that's a good place to start.
What if my Daikin heat pump needs a repair, not a service?
If the fault code is still active after a service, or the unit won't start at all, that's a repair rather than a service. For Daikin systems from 2003 onward, a diagnostic tool called the D-Checker can pull live temperature, pressure and compressor data to confirm what's wrong. Book a repair diagnosis and we'll take it from there.
