Maintenance is all we do. Our business depends on your system lasting, not on replacing it.

The Healthy Home Blindspot.

Ventilation systems across Auckland are running right now with blocked filters, fans thick with organic growth or ducts that have worked loose. The system still turns on. Air still moves. Nothing triggers a fault or a warning. But the air changes the system was designed to deliver aren't happening.

New Zealand Building Guidance recommends a minimum of 0.35 air changes per hour in occupied rooms: the rate at which fresh air replaces stale air. When that rate drops, CO₂ from normal breathing and pollutants from everyday activity build up rather than being displaced. Bedrooms get stuffy overnight. Condensation returns as moisture removal falls behind. The fan is running, but the air quality has quietly declined.

These systems were bought to make homes healthier. When they're not serviced, some stop delivering on that. A few make things worse. This is the Healthy Home Blindspot.

MiHT is right for you if...

your system hasn't been serviced in the last 12 months
Annual servicing is the standard recommendation for ventilation systems in New Zealand. If it's been longer than that, performance has likely dropped and the gap between what the system is doing and what it was designed to do has quietly widened. A MiHT service brings it back to operating condition.
condensation in the house has increased
Condensation on windows and cold surfaces is a sign that moisture isn't being removed at the rate it should be. A ventilation system that's underperforming is a common cause. A service checks whether the system is delivering the airflow it was designed to.
someone in your home is sensitive to air quality
Children, allergies, asthma. A ventilation system that hasn't been cleaned isn't circulating clean air or giving you the required air changes it should. A MiHT service sanitises the internal components and gives you a written record of what was found and what was done.
smells are taking longer to clear than they used to
Cooking smells, bathroom odours and general stuffiness that linger longer than normal point to a system that isn’t moving enough air through the space. A service identifies what’s restricting performance.

The MiHT Care Protocol.

Every MiHT visit follows the same five-stage process. It was built around a gap we kept seeing in the industry: homeowners paying for a service with no way to know what they actually got, or whether their systems were any better for it.

PLAN

Tell us which units you want serviced. Your price is calculated instantly.
You see exactly what is included and what it costs before you confirm anything.
Pick a time that suits you and book it yourself. Any time of the day or night.

UNCOVER

Before any work starts, every unit is photographed and its condition recorded. Your system's current airflow performance and component condition are documented before anything is touched. That starting point is what allows us to show you, at the end of the visit, exactly what the service achieved and what, if anything, still needs attention.

RESTORE

Your service follows a documented checklist built on industry best practice. Every booked unit has its key components cleaned thoroughly: filters, fan housings, ducting connections and diffusers. The contaminants that have built up since install or the last clean are removed so your system delivers the air changes it was designed for.

REVIEW

Once the work is done, you receive a written condition report with before and after photos of every unit we serviced. The photos focus on the areas that needed the most attention, and the report shows your system's pre and post service condition so the full improvement is documented. Any issues that need attention are noted clearly, whether that's a repair your system needs or something to keep an eye on at the next service. It is a complete record of your system's condition, yours to keep.

PROTECT

Once your service is complete, we take care of what comes next. Annual Care Plan customers have their next service automatically scheduled. We manage the timing, send the reminders, and book the visit. For one-off customers, we send a reminder when your system is next due so you never have to remember when you last had it serviced. Either way, your system does not get forgotten.

Common questions about ventilation servicing in Auckland.

How often should a ventilation system be serviced?

Annual servicing is the standard recommendation for both positive pressure and balanced ventilation systems in New Zealand. If your system hasn’t been serviced in the last 12 months, that’s the starting point.

Can I change my DVS, HRV or SmartVent filter myself?

You can replace the filter on most systems yourself if you have the correct grade for your unit. What a filter change doesn't cover is the fan housing, ducting and diffusers. Organic growth accumulates behind the filter where it isn't visible, and ducting can work loose without any obvious sign at the vent. A professional service covers the full system, not just the filter.

Do you service all brands?

Yes. We service all makes and models of positive pressure, balanced and extractor systems. HRV, DVS, SmartVent, Mitsubishi Lossnay, Zehnder, Lunos, Alnor, Stiebel Eltron and others.

What happens if the service finds something that needs repair or replacement?

If we find something beyond the scope of maintenance, we'll tell you clearly and refer you to a qualified installer or electrician. We don't repair or replace ventilation systems ourselves, which means we have no interest in recommending either unless it's genuinely needed. Any findings are included in your written condition report.

What if I am not happy with the result?

We stand behind our work. If you are not satisfied with the service, contact us and we will make it right.

Does a MiHT service meet Healthy Homes Standards requirements for rental properties?

Yes. The Healthy Homes Standards require functioning ventilation in specific areas of rental properties. A MiHT service confirms your ventilation systems are operating correctly and provides a written condition report that can be kept on file for your records. If you manage multiple properties, a Care Plan schedules servicing automatically across your portfolio.

Is a professional service worth it if the system seems to be working?

Your ventilation system can appear to work while delivering significantly reduced performance. When a system isn’t delivering the required air changes per hour, CO₂ and other pollutants accumulate in occupied rooms even though the fan is running. A full service checks whether the unit is actually operating as it should.

What's the difference between a filter change and a full service?

A filter change addresses one component. A full service covers the entire system: fan units, housings, ducting, diffusers and intake areas. A filter change won't clear the organic growth that's built up behind the filter in the fan housing, and it won't identify ducting that's come loose or been damaged.

Why don't you install or repair ventilation systems?

It's a deliberate choice. Companies that install and repair systems have an interest in recommending new units and paid-for fixes. We don't. Our business only works if your existing system keeps performing, which means our advice is about getting the most from what you've already bought.

How much does a service cost and what are the Care Plans?

Pricing starts at $249 inc GST for positive pressure systems, $349 for balanced systems and $135 per unit for extractor fans. Final pricing is confirmed at booking based on your system and the number of units. You can book a one-off service or set up an Annual or Biennial Care Plan, which schedules the service automatically each year or every two years. No lock-in.

Do you service ventilation systems across all of Auckland?

Yes. We service positive pressure, balanced and extractor systems across Auckland. Your booking includes travel. No extra charges for location.
